About us

Amhara Association of Bay Area is a nonprofit established in 2023 to address the myriad existial, social and economic crises facing the Amhara people in Ethiopia. In 2021, amid the persecution of the Amhara people, the founding members of the organization hosted various events in the Bay Area to connect with the community, and foster a sense of solidarity. The necessity for a formal advocacy organization that can unite the Amhara community in the Bay Area and campaign to end the genocide and other state-sanctioned persecutions of the Amhara people was made clear by these community engagement initiatives. Amhara Association of Bay Area was established in an effort to accomplish this objective. The mission of AABA is to be a reliable and trustworthy organization that contributes to the long-term social and economic advancement of the Amhara people in Ethiopia.
